CalPrevents in Action:
The Linkages Space

CalPrevents is an online community of practice for professionals and community members working in child abuse prevention and early intervention. Funded by the state’s Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP), CalPrevents is a platform to support collaboration among cross-sector prevention partners, as well as a place to network with peers and experts across California. As of May 2025, there are 13 active spaces for affinity groups to connect and share resources, with more launching each month.

Andrea Lewis, the Linkages Program Associate for Child and Family Policy Institute of California (CFPIC), is the moderator for the Linkages space, focused on the collaboration between Child Welfare and CalWORKs. Linkages was one of the first spaces on CalPrevents, and under Andrea’s leadership, it has grown into a forum where Linkages professionals of all levels can learn from each other and access resources that enhance their work and collaboration. In the below video, Andrea shares how she approaches the moderator role and builds an engaged and interactive community.

If you work in prevention and are interested in joining the Statewide Connect space, you can request to join here. If you are interested in hosting a private space on CalPrevents, you can fill out this form or email the Strategies team at [email protected].
